OVERVIEW
════════
The directory of your diskette serves as a table of contents. It
refers to the files on your disk, the date and time of their last
update, and other pertinent information.
CDIR customizes this directory to allow you to advertise products,
services or your business name and phone. DOS limits you to 8
characters per file name. CDIR breaks this barrier by placing your
special message vertically in the directory and placing a border
around it for easy reading. It will even sort your floppy diskette
directory.
We are sure that you will enjoy using this unique product. Please
return a check or money order in the amount of $20.00 sothat we may
send you update notifications and other product information.
ENTER MESSAGE
═════════════
At the A> type CDIR <return>. Press return through the title page.
You will see the input screen (fig 1). The idea is a simple one...
type your message on the lines, and CDIR will write it into your
directory in a verticle fashion.
DUPLICATE FILES
═══════════════
The ability to place a message into your disk in this fashion is
unique; however, you must follow one very stiff rule. You may not
enter duplicate files!
When there is a duplication, the computer will highlight the two
columns that are duplicate. These will remain highlighted until your
next keystroke.
Be sure to examine your message before you attempt to write. There are
several things you may do to eliminate the duplication once it has
been identified without destroying your message.
° Alter the spacing
° Add "special" characters
° Change the wording
PREVIEW MESSAGE
═══════════════
This feature will allow you to review your message the way it will
appear in the directory listing. To use the preview, press F2.
Please note that your message will scroll off of the screen if it
exceeds the number of lines on the screen (24).
ERASE MESSAGE
═════════════
The F3 key will toggle the write/erase action that is to be taken on
the message that is currently on display.
SORT DIRECTORY
══════════════
This feature will work when you are writing to a floppy disk. CDIR
will ask if you want to sort the directory listing. Respond with Y
or N. CDIR will sort your directory for you. This is not a dedicated
sort as it will not sort CDIR files... it will simply move them to the
bottom of the directory. This happens because the first character of
each file in a CDIR file is not necessarily in descending order to the
file that is supposed to be on top of it.
USING BORDERS
═════════════
Press CONTROL-C to use a different border. There are seven to choose
from.
